We are pleased to announce the Normandy WWII Tour Scholarship. In partnership with the Normandy Academy of World War II Museum in New Orleans, the American Heritage Museum is offering an 11-day trip for a high school student to France from June 26-July. 6, 2023. The student will join the Normandy Academy group to see all the major sites related to the landings of June 1944. He or she will get a close view of the events and places involved in the Battle of Normandy. The student will spend several days visiting the D-Day landing beaches, important sites related to the German occupation and/or Allied invasion, museums and various cemeteries. You will also be able to talk to and eat with a member of the French Resistance during the war. Before leaving Normandy, students will visit the American Cemetery and give a presentation about the service member they researched before placing flowers on their grave. Booking your place entitles you to a full one-hour session with a driving instructor who will show you how to operate your tank and give you the opportunity to drive it yourself.
The M4 Sherman program requires a contribution of $1,495.00 per driver. With an additional $195 donation, you can add a pilot to operate the tower. An M24 Chaffee is available to drive for a donation of $995.00 per driver with an additional donation of $195.00, again, to add a pilot to the turret gunner.
Not looking for a lesson but still want the experience? Rides are available to customers on the M4 Sherman and the M24 Chaffee. Starting with a $595.00 donation for two riders on the M4 Sherman or a $595.00 donation for three riders on the M24 Chaffee, your 10-minute experience will take you inside these iconic armored vehicles for a day you'll never forget.
